Vervidell L. Matthews

Verve (as she is so affectionately called) was born on March 16, 1922 to the late Joe and Ernestine(Polidore) Matthews.  She is the last surviving siblings of 4 brothers and 2 sisters.  She was reared in the Catholic Faith in Four Corners, LA.   She attended public school in St. Mary Parish but left to complete her education in Houston, TX.  While living in Texas she was a housekeeper for a family in Wimberley, TX.

After the death of her father she returned home to help her mother.  She did housework for various families in the Four Corners Community.

She is a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Four Corners.  She is the oldest member of the church for many years.  She loves praying the Rosary.  She was a prayer warrior for the sick and shut-ins. She was awarded many outstanding awards throughout her life in leadership and involvement in the community.  Her church affiliations include Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, Legion of Mary where she is the Past-President, Katherine Drexel Society and Past-Secretary of St. Elizabeth Altar Society.

Verve hobbies includes dancing and playing bingo.
